Two Chinese engineers and an Indian operator died when a boiler inside a pharmaceuticals plant run by Pusilin Biotechnology exploded. The incident occurred during repair works on June 9 at the facility in the state of Haryana.
New Delhi/India — The Chinese news agency Xinhua reported that three people died when a boiler exploded during repair works at an oven. The plant operator Pusilin Biotechnology produces chondroitin sulfate at the location - a basic product for osteoarthritis medication. The Chinese workers form the province of Shandong were staying in the plant to conduct the repair works on the oven, which is used to dry the products.
According to Times of India the director of Pusilin Biotechnology and two other senior officials were booked by the local police for the death of the workers. Two of which remained untraceable. The newspaper quotes the father of the dead Indian worker as saying that "the company owner had been negligent about regular inspections, and that repair works were being carried out without any safety gear".
