HMI hanging means, if you have a huge amount of data, it will not be able to process. You are actually in the situation, where HMI is not in a position to find out what is to be done with so much of data. That happens only when your controllers are not properly calibrated and you do not DCS architecture and a process PLC architecture, the only difference lies in engineering. There is nothing to do with hardware or software. Which unfortunately most of us do not understand.
How Automation Systems Face HMI Problems
Whereas that challenge is not faced if you have 75 per cent of your I/Os in digital form. So, this control logic is all about having a proper calibration to the needs of an architecture as far as the function goes.
So, when we talk about a characterised architecture, what we mean is – for a particular function depending on the I/Os, the functionality (and so on…), you will be able to avoid any alarm, avalanches etc.
Alarm management is available, you will have sequence of event recordings properly calibrated, you will have time standing on the controller and more importantly – it will not cause any freezing or HMI hanging.
Because we came traditionally from the PLC space, we could think ahead of times and we brought this integrated architecture concept where PlantPAx is part of that integrated architecture wherein this ControlLogix was the main control engine.
The dramatic changes of the global economy during the past decade are also mirrored in the development of process component manufacturers: China has become the number 2 in process automation and measurement systems. But while some industrialised countries have lost big market shares to the Asian competition, others were able to grow... More in China Number 2 Measurement and Automation Producer
