The next Namur Annual General Meeting will have the title “Mastering the digital transformation of the process industry” and will be sponsored by GE Digital.

A few months ago, the company and its subsidiary GE Oil & Gas signed a declaration of intent to jointly find new digital solutions for the construction and design of LNG projects. The two companies will collaborate to research the applications of Predix, a Cloud-based platform of GE, and the digital solutions in the areas of technical planning, construction, commissioning and in the different factory processes for LNG plants. Akzo Nobel for instance, uses the industrial Internet solutions of GE to revolutionize the company in-house factory processes. Thus, the chemicals company increased the capacity of a Swedish factory by 20%, reduced throughput times and increased the traceability to be able to offer better customer service.

Besides even Yara, the world’s largest producer of ammonia, nitrates and NPK, will use digital smart signal - a component of the GE APM suite, to achieve peak performance in production and to increase the plant productivity. Yara’s production class is working with GE at present to limit failure times in production. The Ferrara factory serves as testing location for process optimization and digital improvements. Successful application examples will definitely be presented in greater depth at the next Annual General Meeting.
