Many want to score with innovations — but only top developments take it to the winners’ podium: In 2016, more than 30 companies contested with recent developments for the coveted Technology Award at the Powtech.
Engineers and inventors competed for the innovation-champion’s title in three categories: Processing technology equipment and components, pharmaceutical/food, control and automation/particle characterization.
By no means an easy task for the jury from editors of the journals PROCESS, PharmaTEC, Schüttgut and external technology experts. Yet at the end, the race was clearly: Revolutionary measuring technologies, customized 3D-components and clean containment took the price — yet, also the companies with second and third rank could rejoice over the prizes (see box).
The prize for “Processing technology equipment and components” was especially contested — here, the 3D-sealing technology by Tedima walked away with the first prize. But hang on! A sealing technology as innovation-champion?
What may look trivial at first glance is in fact a quantum leap in sealing. With this revolutionary sealing concept, the inevitable irregularities of the sealing surface are initially recorded with the help of a laser. In accordance with the data determined and stored this way, seals of perfect fitting, customized for the irregularities and readily reproducible can be produced at a CNC-plant.
