Tokyo/Japan — Currently, the company is producing preform at its Kashima Plant in Kamisu City, Japan and its two Chinese subsidiaries in the cities of Jiangyin and Qianjiang.

The Chinese subsidiary Shin-Etsu Optical was set up as a joint venture with China’s Jiangsu Fasten Hongsheng Group and the Dutch TKH Group. It began operations in 2012. YOFC Shin-Etsu Optical was established in a joint venture with China’s Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable and started operations in 2017.

All of these three joint venture partners are optical fiber manufacturers. The new investment will double the production capacity of both joint-ventures, the company claims. The expansion projects are scheduled for completion in the first half of 2019.

In addition, the company intends to expand its Kashima Plant by adding a new wing to its preform plant. This construction project is aimed for completion in the second half of 2018.
