Mercury Renewables has selected Black & Veatch to support the development of one of Ireland’s first co-located onshore wind farm and hydrogen electrolysis plants. Initially, Black & Veatch will carry out a feasibility study of the project and later on develop an outline design for the facility.

A wealth of opportunities are currently opening up for digitalising existing process plants and making them ready for the era of the industrial Internet of Things. H.F. Meyer Maschinenbau, Domino Deutschland and Heuft Systemtechnik have jointly developed a new compact solution for beverage can fillers. The solution is capable of resource-saving, enables fault-free high-speed filling process of beverage can lines which have limited space.

Hycc has chosen Kraftanlagen Energies & Services to carry out the basic design and engineering (Feed) while Nel has been selected for supplying electrolysis stacks to the green hydrogen project H2eron. The project comprising a 40-megawatt plant will be developed in the Netherlands and will support the production of SAF.

Rare-earth magnets are claimed to be strong permanent magnets made from alloys of rare-earth elements which produce significantly stronger magnetic fields than other types of magnets. Solvay has plan to develop a ‘rare earth magnet hub’ in Europe to cater to the fast-growing electric vehicles, wind power, and electronics markets.

Atlas Copco has introduced its new series of DVS vacuum pumps. These dry rotary vane pumps are oil-free and also ensure an emission-free, quiet operation. It can be used across a wide range of applications such as packaging and pneumatic conveying processes, medical systems and analytical equipment, as well as in pick and place.

Air Liquide has plans to develop three new plants for supplying ultra-high purity industrial gases to two of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers. The plants are expected to produce a total of up to 2 billion Nm3 per year of ultra-pure nitrogen, oxygen as well as argon and will be operational by 2024.

Maire Tecnimont has awarded KBR with a technology contract for its 1.1 million ton per annum blue ammonia plant in the USA. The project will transition from blue to green ammonia production in the future.

The Quality by Design (QbD) term was originally introduced in the pharmaceutical lexicon in 2005 via ICH Q8(R2) and additionally described in ICH Q9 and Q10. [1] In essence, QbD is a systematic risk management approach which emphasizes maximum product-, process-understanding, and process control in contrast to a trial and error-based quality control approach that banks on success primarily via end stage product testing.
