Haldor Topsoe’s demo plant will utilize its electrified steam methane reforming technology (eSMR) for producing sustainable methanol from biogas at a competitive cost as compared to other non-fossil fuels. Located at Aarhus University’s research facility in Foulum, Denmark, the unit is expected to have an annual capacity of 10,000l of CO2-neutral methanol from biogas.

Nouryon and other firms based at Chemical Park Delfzijl in the Netherlands will save up to 100,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year through the increased use of sustainable steam. The company will use the additional supply to make its salt production at the Delfzijl site more sustainable.

Under the terms of the agreement, Dow will design and engineer a new 10,000 ton per year market development unit at its Terneuzen site in the Netherlands. Incitec Pivot and Fortescue Future Industries have collaborated to undertake a feasibility study for producing green hydrogen on an industrial-scale at the company’s existing Gibson Island fertilizer manufacturing facility in Australia. The new project aims to produce around 50,000 tons of renewable hydrogen annually which will then be converted into green ammonia for Australian and export markets.

KBR’s ammonia technology has been selected by the Acme Group for its green ammonia project in Oman. On completion, the project is expected to produce 300 metric tons per day of ammonia which will then be converted into green ammonia by using renewable energy.

KBR has been awarded a contract by Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers for revamping its ammonia plant at Panambur, Mangalore in India.

Jacobs Engineering Group announced that it was selected by Therma Visayas (TVI), a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corporation, for the role of owner’s engineer for the construction of a new 2 x 150 Megawatt electric (MWe) circulating fluidized bed (CFB) coal-fired power plant in Barangay Bato, Toledo City, Philippines.Company officials did not disclose the contract value. The plant is scheduled for completion in 2017.

Klabin, the largest producer and exporter of packaging paper in Brazil, has awarded Pöyry with an EPCM (Engineering, procurement and construction management) assignment to develop the BOP (Balance of Plant) for the first phase of the Puma II project.
