Thyssenkrupp Uhde has successfully completed the Pre-Feed phase for HAMR Energy’s Portland renewable fuels project in Australia. The project will produce green methanol by making use of biomass residues as well as renewable electricity and will power shipping and aviation.

Axens has recently started up a 100 % Sustainable Aviation Fuel facility at its site in Asia. With the capacity to entirely convert renewable feedstock into high value Sustainable Aviation Fuel, the unit is based on Axens’ Vegan technology.

Set out to mark a significant milestone in sustainable chemical production, the world’s largest electric steam methane reformer is expected to begin operations in 2026. Sypox’s innovative electrical reformer technology along with Clariant’s catalysts will be used by the electric steam methane reformer to generate approximately 150 tons of syngas daily from 10 MW of renewable electricity. The technology boasts of multiple advantages over conventional steam methane reforming processes.

Under a supply agreement between Clariant and Sypox, Clariant will manufacture and deliver catalysts for the world’s largest electric steam methane reformer. The project will make use of 10 megawatts of renewable electricity in order to generate 150 tons of syngas daily.

Expected to be installed at the Presidente Bernardes Refinery in Cubatão, São Paulo, the plant is expected to process approximately 950,000 tons per year of plant-based feedstocks and animal fat, generating a production capacity of up to 16,000 bpd of renewable fuels.
