Pfeiffer Vacuum has launched a new HiScroll Atex scroll pump which is ideal for pumping potentially explosive gases. The scroll pump can be used for analytics, industry or research & development.

A Letter of Intent was signed between Siemens Smart Infrastructure and Zukunftsenergie Nordostbayern to build one of Europe’s largest energy storage facilities in Wunsiedel, Germany. On completion, the 100-MW plant is expected to offer a storage capacity of 200 megawatt hours.

A recent MOU signed by Arcelor Mittal and the Spanish Government has resulted in a 1.18-billion-dollar investment in decarbonization technologies at Arcelor Mittal Asturias’ plant in Gijón, Spain. The new DRI and EAF installations at the Asturias plant will enable Arcelor Mittal Sestao to become the world’s first full-scale zero carbon-emissions steel plant.

BASF and Eni have entered into a strategic agreement and launched a joint R&D initiative to reduce the CO2 footprint of the transportation sector. Together, the companies aim at developing a new sustainable technology to produce advanced bio-propanol from glycerin.

Under a MOU, Exxon Mobil will be participating in the Acorn carbon capture and storage project (CCS) in Scotland which aims to capture and store 5-6 million tons of CO2 per year by 2030 from gas terminals. The oil and gas company has also joined the Neccus Carbon Capture Alliance which aims at reducing carbon emissions from industrial facilities in Scotland.
