Morocco has recently announced its plans to develop the Hevo Ammonia Morocco project, the largest green hydrogen and green ammonia project in the country. On completion, the project is expected to produce 183,000 tons of green ammonia and reduce 280,000 tons of CO2 annually.

Siemens has plans to build a 8.75 MW carbon-free hydrogen generation plant in Wunsiedel, Germany. The groundbreaking ceremony of this project was attended by the Bavarian Minister-President Dr. Markus Söder. The plant is expected to produce up to 1,350 tons of hydrogen per year using only renewable energy.

Under a MOU signed between Shell and Uniper, both the companies will jointly work together to drive the development of a hydrogen economy in Germany, the Netherlands and other European countries.

EDP, Technip FMC along with a few research institutes have plans to develop a conceptual engineering and economic feasibility study for a new offshore system for green hydrogen production from offshore wind power. The project called ‘Behyond’ aims to produce hydrogen on a large scale by creating a concept that can be implemented across the globe.

Adnoc has entered into a joint study agreement with three Japanese companies – Inpex, Jera and Jogmec in order to explore hydrogen and blue ammonia production in the UAE. Arcelor Mittal and the Government of Canada will invest the money in decarbonization technologies at Arcelor Mittal Dofasco’s plant in Hamilton, Canada. In this background, the facility will establish Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) and Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) units in order to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 60 %.

Haltermann Carless will become the world’s largest Cyclopentane producer after the completion of its new hydrogenation plant at the Speyer site in Germany. With this project, the company expects to significantly increase its production capacity of Cyclopentane by up to 70 % as of Q1 2022.

Located at Shell’s Energy and Chemicals Park Rheinland, near Cologne in Germany, the mega project is part of the Refhyne European consortium which will utilize the PEM technology to produce green hydrogen.

Under a memorandum of cooperation signed between Sasol and the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa (IDC), both the companies will work together to advance the green hydrogen economy in South Africa.
