Cement Manufacturing Firm Cemex Invests in Green Hydrogen Start Up Hiiroc

With this investment, Cemex plans to increase its hydrogen injection capacity across its cement operations while reducing the consumption of fossil fuels leading to the decarbonization of its processes. Hiiroc has introduced a technology that makes use of thermal plasma electrolysis to convert biomethane, flare gas, or natural gas into clean hydrogen at a lower cost than other existing solutions.

Ineos to Build Carbon Capture Enabled Hydrogen Production Plant in Scotland

Ineos has plans to develop a world scale carbon capture enabled hydrogen production plant in Grangemouth, Scotland. For this, the company is inviting bids from leading engineering design contractors for the design of the mega project. The produced low carbon hydrogen will be used to replace hydrocarbon fuels used at the Grangemouth site which will help to power its processes and manufacture important materials.

Shyne Consortium to Promote Renewable Hydrogen in Spain

The Shyne (Spanish Hydrogen Network) project, the largest renewable hydrogen consortium in Spain, made up of 33 entities from different sectors, was presented on January 19, 2022 at Campus Repsol, the headquarters of the multi-energy company. It brings together 22 companies and 11 associations, technology centers, and universities under the leadership of Repsol with the aim of promoting renewable hydrogen projects in all areas of the Spanish economy and, thus, stimulating rapid and effective decarbonization through this energy vector that is considered one of the keys to the energy transition.
