Brasil Biofuels has awarded Haldor Topsoe with a technology contract for its new biorefinery in Manaus, Brazil. Under the terms of the agreement, Topsoe will provide its Hydroflex and H2bridge technologies for the production of sustainable aviation fuel and second-generation biofuel at the biorefinery.

HIF Global will develop the e-fuels plant in Matagorda County in Texas, USA and the project is expected to produce 200 million gallons of carbon-neutral gasoline annually. Construction of the plant will begin by 2023 and first production is scheduled for 2026.

Maire Tecnimont has awarded KBR with a technology contract for its 1.1 million ton per annum blue ammonia plant in the USA. The project will transition from blue to green ammonia production in the future.

The shipment from the UAE to Germany marks the first ever demonstration cargo of low-carbon ammonia between both the countries. Germany’s Aurubis, a leading global provider of non-ferrous metals will use the low-carbon ammonia as a feedstock in its wire rod plant in order to meet its decarbonization goals.

The German research institute Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung has been selected for the international project – Ambh2er which aims to deliver a greener synthesis of ammonia. With 16 partners from science and industry, the project is scheduled to run for four years and intends to contribute towards the European Green Deal.

Claimed to be the world’s largest reservation of electrolyzer capacity, Topsoe and First Ammonia have entered into a deal to begin the global market for green ammonia. Under this deal, Topsoe will provide an initial 500 MW of solid oxide electrolyzer cell units, which is scalable to 5 GW, to First Ammonia’s green ammonia plants across the globe.
