SGP Bioenergy has plans to establish Latin America’s largest renewable fuels plant in Panama. For this project, the company has selected Topsoe to support the production of low-carbon fuels. Once complete, the biorefinery is expected to produce 180,000 barrels per day of sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel, and 405,000 metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually.

Neom has already attracted eyeballs from across the globe for its landmark projects including the development of a green hydrogen based green ammonia production plant. The 5-billion-dollar project is claimed to establish the world’s largest green hydrogen plant in order to produce 650 tons of hydrogen everyday which will be synthesized to produce 1.2 million tons of green ammonia annually.

With an aim to expand the green hydrogen economy within Europe and across the globe, Cummins has plans to develop a new gigawatt PEM electrolyzer manufacturing plant in Guadalajara, Spain. The project is expected to produce 500 MW of electrolyzers annually and can be scalable to produce more than 1 GW every year.

Asahi Kasei has commenced the construction of an alkaline water electrolysis pilot test plant for sustainable hydrogen production in Japan. The pilot plant will comprise several ‘Aqualizer’ electrolyzer modules which will help to perform various trial operations.

Time is running out and we are still struggling to achieve the net zero emissions deadline by 2050 but there’s still hope. The industrial sector, one of the most carbon-intensive industries, is consciously making an effort to decarbonize itself and one of the methods which the sector is adopting is by switching to the production of clean green hydrogen as well as low carbon hydrogen i.e. blue hydrogen.

Air Products has plans to build a green hydrogen production facility in New York, USA. The produced liquid hydrogen is expected to be supplied to the city’s mobility market along with other potential industrial markets. The company is also exploring the feasibility of developing a hydrogen fueling station network in the country.

Yokogawa Electric has been selected by Shell as the Main Automation Contractor for the Holland Hydrogen I plant being developed in the port of Rotterdam, Netherlands. Yokogawa will optimize operations at the plant which is expected to produce up to 60,000 kilograms of green hydrogen per day.

Eni and Enel Green Power have plans to develop two green hydrogen projects in Italy under its joint venture South Italy Green Hydrogen. The European Commission has approved a funding of 5.2 billion euros under its Ipcei Hy2use fund for the development of both the projects.

The consortium comprising Air Liquide, Chevron Corporation, Lyondell Basell, and Uniper will conduct a joint study to evaluate the development of a hydrogen and ammonia production facility along the U.S. Gulf Coast. If established, the unit is expected to support industrial decarbonization and mobility applications in the region as well as expand ammonia exports.

Linde and SLB’s partnership aim to speed up decarbonization solutions in the industrial and energy sectors. With this collaboration, the partners will focus on CCUS projects in hydrogen, ammonia, natural gas sectors.
