Fast Company has awarded Heliogen with the ‘World Changing Ideas’ award for its technology that is capable of replacing fossil fuels with sunlight. The technology also boasts of commercially bringing carbon-free, ultra-high temperature heat to traditionally carbon-intensive industries for the first time.

The deal is in line with Singapore Government’s Long-Term Low-Emissions Development Strategy to halve emissions by 2050. Chiyoda has proposed its hydrogen storage and transportation technology for the ambitious plan.

Toray’s German subsidiary Greenerity will be constructing its second facility in Bavaria, Germany. The new plant will be used to develop key components for hydrogen fuel cells and water electrolyzers.

The aim of the ‘Macbeth’ project is to develop a new process for catalytic synthesis with appropriate separation equipment in a single, highly efficient catalytic membrane reactor. The project brings together 24 partners with expertise in the field. The EU has offered around 18 million dollars for this project.

Under the terms of the agreement, Air Products will acquire five hydrogen steam methane reformer production plants from PBF Energy and also provide long-term hydrogen supply to the energy firm. The plants are located in California and Delaware and have a combined production capacity of nearly 300 million standard cubic feet per day of hydrogen.

With an aim to take this project forward, Linde will invest 1.4 billion dollars to expand its present gasification complex and integrate it with Exxon Mobil's multi-billion dollar expansion project. Under the long term agreement, Linde will produce and supply additional hydrogen and synthesis gas to the complex.

The maiden commercial use of Clariant’s new catalyst – Reformax 330 LDP Plus has been carried out at OCI Nitrogen’s ammonia production facility in the Netherlands. The incorporation of the catalyst has boosted the plant’s energy and production efficiency.

Zhejiang Petrochemical has selected Honeywell’s Polybed pressure swing adsorption units to supply high-purity hydrogen for the mega petrochemical complex which is currently in its second phase. On completion, the project is also expected to be one of the largest crude-to-chemicals complexes in the world.

Sunfire’s high-temperature electrolysis technology enables the production of renewable hydrogen and direct conversion of water as well as CO2 into raw material for petrochemical products. Neste intends to use this technology for its new business platform – Power-to-X.

Water treatment and purification is a technologically demanding process. Dosing is a core task here: Additives and auxiliary agents or highly effective chemicals need to be added both cost-effectively and safely for the environment, which means that the requirements for dosing pumps are just as high. Digitalization is the order of the day here as well.
