With an aim to accelerate its electrolysis business, Haldor Topsoe has established a new organization which will focus exclusively on green hydrogen. Chokri Mousaoui has been appointed as Executive Vice President and head of the organization.

VDMA’s Food Processing and Packaging Machinery trade association will be participating at Achema Pulse’s Process Technology Forum. The show is expected to present numerous topics such as hydrogen, chemical recycling, digitalization as well as automation. VDMA will also hold sessions on OPC UA and Circular Economy at the Forum.

At Achema Pulse, an exclusive interview was conducted with Dr. Klaus Schäfer, Chief Technology Officer at Covestro in Germany. The focus of the interaction revolved around the concept of a fully circular economy with zero emissions and how this vision can become a reality. Helena Carmen Felixberger was the presenter on behalf of Dechema.

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) will be building a world-scale ‘blue’ ammonia production facility at the Ta’ziz industrial ecosystem and chemicals hub in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, UAE. With an expected capacity of 1,000 kilo tons per annum, the plant will enable the company to explore opportunities in hydrogen and hydrogen carrier fuels.

The 61-million-dollar PEM electrolyzer plant will be constructed in Spain by Cummins and its partner Iberdrola along with the support from the Spanish Government. The plant will be used to produce green hydrogen and is expected to be complete by 2023.

Hyflexfuel is an EU funded research project which has produced biocrude from various biomasses. The Aarhus University utilized the hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) process at its pilot plant in Denmark to produce the biocrude.

Covenant Energy has chosen Haldor Topsoe’s Hydroflex and H2bridge technologies for its renewable diesel facility in Canada. With the help of the technologies, Covenant Energy aims to produce the cleanest renewable diesel across the globe.

Under a MOU signed between Yara and Trafigura, both the companies will work together to develop and promote the use of ammonia as a clean fuel for the shipping industry. They also intend to collaborate on clean ammonia fuel infrastructure and market opportunities.

BASF and RWE have signed a letter of intent which focuses on a climate-neutral chemical industry and CO2-free hydrogen. Together, they have come up with a project idea which includes the construction of an offshore wind farm with a capacity of 2 GW to produce green electricity and supply it to BASF’s Ludwigshafen chemical site in Germany for hydrogen production.

The Hysynergy Phase II development comprises a 300 MW electrolyzer and Power-to-X facility which will be established next to the Fredericia refinery in Denmark. The project aims to scale up the production of green hydrogen so that it can be used for zero-emission hydrogen mobility as well as green feedstock to various fuel refining processes.
