Biofuels producer, Renewable Energy Group, joined Iowa State University (ISU) at the Bio Century Research Farm (BCRF) for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the start of a new hydrotreater pilot plant. This project is the result of a three-year collaboration between REG and the ISU Bioeconomy Institute.

Under the three agreements signed between BP, Adnoc and Masdar, the companies jointly aim to develop low carbon hydrogen hubs and decarbonized air corridors between the UK and UAE. BP and Adnoc also have plans to continue decarbonizing existing oil and gas operations by using methane detection, CCUS and pioneering digital technologies.

Air Liquide has teamed up with Total Energies to develop low-carbon hydrogen production in the Normandy industrial basin in France. A large-scale CO2 capture and storage solution (CCS) will also be implemented at the site.

The ‘marinized’ electrolyzer project will be developed at Grimsby in the UK for renewable hydrogen production. The Oyster Project is funded by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking, a public private partnership of the European Commission and will develop and test an electrolyzer system designed to be integrated with offshore wind turbines.

Chevron has plans to invest more than 10 billion dollars by 2028 to achieve its 2030 growth targets for new energy businesses such as renewable fuels, hydrogen, and carbon capture. This includes 2 billion dollars to lower the company’s carbon intensity operations.

Maire Tecnimont’s subsidiaries NextChem, MET Development and Stamicarbon have decided to join forces with Greenfield Nitrogen to establish the first green ammonia plant in the USA. NextChem will conduct a feasibility study for the project, MET Development will support the development of the plant whereas Stamicarbon will offer its latest green ammonia technology to the unit. The new facility is expected to produce 240 metric tons of green ammonia per day.

Under the MOU, Mitsubishi will build a blue hydrogen plant near Edmonton in Canada while Shell will provide CO2 storage via the proposed Polaris CCS project for producing the low-carbon hydrogen which will then be exported to Japan to produce clean energy.

In line with the Scottish Government’s ambition of achieving net zero emissions by 2045 in the country, Ineos Grangemouth will further invest 1.37-billion-dollars in addition to the over 686 million dollars already invested at its Grangemouth site in Scotland to deliver emissions savings of more than 60 % across the site by 2030 and thus, achieve net zero emissions by 2045.

The IRPC Public Company has awarded Wison Engineering with an EPCC contract for a new hydrogen manufacturing unit in Thailand. Once complete, the project will supply hydrogen to the Ultra Clean Fuel Diesel Euro V Project.

Uniper has collaborated with the Port of Rotterdam Authority to develop green hydrogen production at Maasvlakte in the Netherlands. The move has been carried out based on the findings of a recent feasibility study and the growing demand for sustainable hydrogen from the Rotterdam petrochemical industry.
