Petrofac’s EPS business has won an engineering and project management office support contract for the Acorn project. Under the terms of the agreement, the firm will provide project management systems and technical support during the Feed for Acorn CCS and the concept select for Acorn hydrogen.

Linde has leveraged its technology in order to sign a new long-term contract with India’s largest refiner, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL). Under the agreement, Praxair India, a subsidiary of Linde, will construct an air separation unit on BOO basis and supply oxygen and nitrogen to IOCL’s Paradip refinery in Orissa.

Luis Sierra has recently been appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer of Nova Chemicals Corporation. He will take charge from August 1, 2020 and will succeed Todd Karran who is retiring from the company.

The new process is expected to reduce CO2 emissions for ethylene production by 80 per cent. The project is considered as a vital building block for the petrochemical industry in the US and across the globe.

BP has secured a 49 % stake in the joint venture for 1 billion dollars while Reliance Industries will hold the remaining 51 % stake. The new joint venture ‘Jio-BP’ aims to become one of the leading players in India's fuels and mobility market.

The collaboration with Princeton University’s Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment aims to advance carbon capture technologies with new research in order to optimise CO2 storage projects in the future which will prove beneficial to reduce emissions. Both the firms are also working together to develop carbonate fuel cells.

Under long-term agreements, Linde’s new plant is expected to supply carbon monoxide and hydrogen to a leading chemical company along with other refining and chemical customers in Southern Louisiana, USA.

The life threatening Benzimidazole gas leaked from Sainor Life Sciences, a pharma unit located in Andhra Pradesh, India which left two people dead. This is the third gas leak accident reported in the state in the past six months.

The International Energy Agency’s (IEA) recent market report ‘Gas 2020’ has predicted that the global gas demand is expected to fall by 4 % in 2020. This is twice the amount lost after the 2008 financial crisis.

The large-scale project will produce eco-friendly fuels for the road, maritime and air transport sectors in Copenhagen, Denmark. On completion, the project is expected to become one of the world’s largest production facilities for sustainable fuels.
