Claimed to be the world’s largest green hydrogen project, the Neom project in Saudi Arabia will use Haldor Topsoe’s ammonia technology to convert hydrogen into 1.2 million tonnes per year of green ammonia.

Evonik will invest in three core product areas – Tert. butanol (TBA), di-isobutene (DiB) and 3,5,5-trimethylhexanal (TMH). By the end of next year, the company aims to increase its local production capacity for isobutene derivatives by over 50 %.

Afton Chemical has sanctioned Phase 3 investment for its chemical additive manufacturing facility in Singapore. With this, the company will add Gasoline Performance Additives (GPA) blending capabilities to the facility.

Led by Astra Zeneca, the phase III clinical trial for the Covid-19 vaccine AZD1222 has begun in the USA across all adult age groups. The trial is recruiting up to 30,000 adults in the age group of 18 and above to evaluate the safety, efficacy and immunogenicity of the vaccine.

Phillips 66 has plans to transform its San Francisco Refinery in the USA into a renewable fuels facility which is expected to produce 680 million gallons of renewable diesel, renewable gasoline, and sustainable jet fuel every year.

On August 27, 2020, Andrew F. Gould, the Former Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Schlumberger joined the Board of Directors at Mc Dermott International. Previously, Gould has held several high designations with numerous leading firms.

Under the newly proposed regulations, a single-window system will be created to accelerate the approval of new drugs. A Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation will also be established to reduce the approval time.

The mega plant will be powered with renewable energy and produce green hydrogen which will be exported to global markets. The facility is expected to supply 650 tonnes per day of carbon-free hydrogen.

The chemical industry in Europe intends to gain support for an EU Recovery Plan which is in line with the European Green Deal objectives in order to boost Europe’s economy in the background of Covid-19.

Under the terms of the MOU, Linde and Cnooc will jointly explore the possibility of investing in hydrogen production and filling units as well as increasing the use of hydrogen in industrial applications.
