KBR has been selected by Keppel Data Centres to carry out an energy transition study in which the company will have to evaluate scenarios for alternative hydrogen-based energy sources to supply to new data centers in Singapore.

The aim of the Align-CCUS project is to utilize CO2 in order to reduce CO2 emissions. As a part of this project, a water electrolysis plant has been established by Chemieanlagenbau Chemnitz who was responsible for planning, procurement, assembly and commissioning of the unit.

The newly established joint venture will produce low carbon hydrogen at Essar’s Stanlow Refinery in Ellesmere Port, UK and supply it to the industry in the Hynet 'low carbon cluster', as well as to the transport sector in the country.

Entergy Texas’ Montgomery County Power Station began commercial operations on January 1, 2021. The power station utilized two Mitsubishi Power G-Series air-cooled advanced class gas turbines to provide 993 MW of clean electricity to Southeast Texas, USA.

Schlumberger New Energy, CEA and Partners have recently announced that the European Commission has approved the formation of Genvia, a clean hydrogen production technology venture. The venture will focus on the development and industrial deployment of an innovative electrolyzer technology for clean hydrogen production.

Under the terms of the agreement, Linde will build, own and operate the new liquid hydrogen infrastructure in South Korea. This also includes the construction of a liquid hydrogen facility which will have a capacity of over 30 tons per day.

Located in Konin, Poland, Johnson Matthey’s battery cathode materials plant will be fully powered by renewable electricity. Axpo will provide renewable electricity to the new factory which is expected to begin commissioning in 2022.

A 50-50 joint venture has been established by Lyondell Basell and Sinopec to manufacture propylene oxide and styrene monomer in China. The newly created joint venture firm is expected to construct two new units in Zhenhai Ningbo, China which will have 275 KTA capacity of propylene oxide and 600 KTA capacity of styrene monomer respectively.

The combination of propane dehydrogenation technology with CO2 utilization technology has the potential to increase economic activity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Sumitomo Chemical has plans to explore this combination at its petrochemical complex in Singapore.

Claimed to be the energy industry’s first autonomous vehicle trial, BP and Oxbotica held the autonomous vehicle trial at BP’s Lingen refinery in Germany. With these self-driving vehicles, BP aims to improve safety, increase efficiency and decrease carbon emissions at its sites.
