Halix and Astra Zeneca have entered into a contract to manufacture the Covid-19 vaccine – AZD1222 in the Netherlands on a commercial scale. Under the terms of the agreement, Halix will provide commercial manufacturing of drug substance at its regional facility.

With the takeover, Lyondell Basell and Suez will increase its plastics recycling capacity at its joint venture firm Quality Circular Polymers to approximately 55,000 tonnes per year. The move also enables Lyondell Basell's ambition to produce 2 million tonnes per year of recycled and renewable source-based polymers by 2030.

Technip FMC has been awarded an EPC contract by Assiut National Oil Processing Company for the construction of a new hydrocracking complex for the Assiut refinery in Egypt. The pilot project ‘Chemical recycling of plastics from automobile construction’ is being led by the Thinktank Industrial Resource Strategies at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the car major Audi. The project aims to use waste from engineering plastics and process it into pyrolysis oil in order to create new components.

The Louisiana-based integrated polyethylene joint venture transaction has been successfully completed by Lyondell Basell and Sasol. Under the terms of the agreement, Lyondell Basell will operate the assets owned by the JV and also market the polyethylene products on behalf of the JV.
