Yara has plans to produce 500,000 tonnes per annum of green ammonia in Norway. The move is expected to support the hydrogen economy in the region. The company also has plans to fully electrify its ammonia plant in Porsgrunn which has the potential to reduce 800,000 tonnes of CO2 per annum.

With an aim to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, Sumitomo Chemical has plans to create a Carbon Neutral Strategy Council which will enable the company to formulate strategies and set milestones to attain its objective. The organization will also set up a Carbon Neutral Strategy Cross-Functional Team to support the Council.

Invista’s PTA P8++ technology has been selected by Sinopec Yizheng for its third PTA line in China. On completion, the new unit will have an annual name-plate capacity of 3 million tons.

Eni and Enel have plans to set up two pilot projects in order to produce green hydrogen with the help of electrolysers which are powered by renewable energy. The electrolysers are expected to be located near two of the Eni refineries.

The mega project will be carried out at IOCL’s Koyali refinery in Gujarat, India. With this project, the oil giant aims to capture over 250-500 thousand tons of CO₂ in a year initially and use the CO₂ for cost-effectively enhancing oil production from its oil fields.

Koyuncu Group has finalized Inovyn to supply Bichlor bipolar electrolyzers to its new 33,000 sq. m production facility in Konya, Turkey. On completion, the plant is expected to produce chlorine, caustic, sodium hypochlorite, hydrochloric acid and have an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons.

Monolith Materials has selected KBR’s ammonia technology for its fertiliser project in Hallam, Nebraska, USA. The project is expected to use hydrogen as feedstock from Monolith Materials’ emission-free facility to produce carbon black and ammonia from natural gas, air and 100 % renewable power.

Solvay’s Melle plant in France has started decarbonizing its cyclopentanone production by converting waste biomass into 18 GWh of renewable natural gas. The cyclopentanone unit operates on biomethane gas and aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 26 % by 2030.
