Clariant's Megamax catalyst will be used for carrying out CO2-based methanol synthesis in China. With this move, the Asian country aims to reach its carbon neutrality target. The catalyst can be applied across a wide range of plant types and technologies.

BASF has plans to invest double-digit million-dollars into the expansion of the mobile emissions catalysts production plant in Chennai, India. With this, the company intends to double its catalysts production capacity for the heavy-duty on- and off-road segment.

With an aim to reduce production costs and promote hydrogen as a zero-carbon fuel, Air Products has entered into an agreement with Baker Hughes to develop next generation hydrogen compression. Under the terms of the contract, Baker Hughes will also supply Air Products with advanced hydrogen compression and gas turbine technology for its projects across the globe.

Under a MOU signed between Yara and Trafigura, both the companies will work together to develop and promote the use of ammonia as a clean fuel for the shipping industry. They also intend to collaborate on clean ammonia fuel infrastructure and market opportunities.

BASF and RWE have signed a letter of intent which focuses on a climate-neutral chemical industry and CO2-free hydrogen. Together, they have come up with a project idea which includes the construction of an offshore wind farm with a capacity of 2 GW to produce green electricity and supply it to BASF’s Ludwigshafen chemical site in Germany for hydrogen production.

Siemens Energy, along with DEWA and Expo 2020 Dubai, has unveiled the first industrial scale, green hydrogen facility in the Middle East and North Africa. Established at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai, the pilot plant will produce around 20.5kg/hr of hydrogen at 1.25MWe of peak power.
