Sinopec has launched the first phase of the Gulei refining complex in China. The complex, a 50:50 JV between Sinopec's Fujian Petrochemical Company and Taiwan Xuteng Investment Company, has invested 4.28 billion dollars for its development which will include an ethylene plant, a styrene unit and seven downstream petrochemical units.

Marathon and ADM have plans to establish a joint venture which will focus on the production of soybean oil (feedstock) in order to produce renewable diesel. Under the terms of the agreement, the joint venture will own and operate ADM’s soybean processing complex in Spiritwood, USA which is expected to produce 600 million pounds of refined soybean oil annually.
