In line with company’s ‘Solvay One Planet’ strategy, the firm has plans to phase out the use of coal at its soda ash facility in Rheinberg, Germany. For this purpose, the company has commissioned its maiden biomass boiler and intends to develop a second biomass boiler, which will make Rheinberg the first soda ash plant in the world to be powered primarily by renewable energy.

Biofuels producer, Renewable Energy Group, joined Iowa State University (ISU) at the Bio Century Research Farm (BCRF) for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the start of a new hydrotreater pilot plant. This project is the result of a three-year collaboration between REG and the ISU Bioeconomy Institute.

Evonik and Wynca has commenced production at its first fumed silica plant in China. Located in Zhenjiang, the facility is expected to produce fumed silica under the brand name Aerosil. The plant will make use of Evonik's product technology with Wynca’s silicone industry chain to develop high-value products.
