With a power capacity of 61 MW and a total storage capacity of 61 MWh, the largest battery-based energy storage facility in France has been commissioned by TotalEnergies. The project supports the need for grid stabilization in the country and will enable the production of renewable energy by integrating green electricity into the grid.

Haskel’s Hydrogen Systems has entered into a long-term agreement with Hiringa to supply hydrogen refuelling stations across New Zealand for the heavy transport industry. The first four high-capacity refuelling stations have already been ordered for phase one of the nationwide green hydrogen network.

Under a MOU signed between Haldor Topsoe and Hyundai Oilbank, the two companies will work together to explore opportunities within blue and green hydrogen, waste plastic recycling, bio-refinery, eFuels, CCUS (carbon capture, utilization and storage) and other solutions to reduce carbon emissions.

Hyosung has chosen Innio’s ‘Ready for Hydrogen’ engine technology for the first 100 % hydrogen pilot power plant in the APAC region. To be built at the Hyosung Chemical Yongyeon plant in Ulsan, South Korea, the plant will run on hydrogen which is produced as a byproduct at the facility. The demonstration of the project will be completed by the end of 2022 and will achieve commercial operation in 3Q 2022.

Clariant’s flame retardants facility which is also its first Chinese production plant will be developed at Daya Bay, Huizhou in the Guangdong Province. The move is in line with the firm’s aim of expanding its Exolit OP range of flame retardants in the Asia region and also to meet the growing demand across the electrical and electronic equipment industries in China.

With the completion of the demonstration of the world’s highest-current water electrolyzer, Hydrogen Optimized has advanced its large-scale green hydrogen technology – the Ruggedcell unipolar electrolyzer. The 22-million-dollar Ruggedcell high-current electrolyzer development program was launched by Hydrogen Optimized with an aim to develop the world’s largest green hydrogen production systems.

Clariant completed the sale of its Pigments business to a consortium of Heubach Group (“Heubach”) and SK Capital Partners (“SK Capital”). As announced upon signing of the transaction, the base enterprise value of the sale amounts to CHF 805 million subject to closing accounts adjustments and before a potential earn-out payment of CHF 50 million which is subject to the business’ 2021 financial performance.

Asahi Kasei will make use of Shell’s sustainable butadiene derived from plastic waste and biomass to produce solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (S-SBR) at its Singapore plant. Shell will produce the green butadiene by a mass balance method in two ways including a method of converting plastic waste into pyrolysis oil and feeding it to the naphtha cracker, and the other is using bio-feedstock as a naphtha cracker feed.

Arkema has plans to double its Sartomer photocure resins capacity at its Nansha plant in China owing to the rising demand in Asia for innovative solutions in electronics and renewable energies.
