GS Caltex has chosen KBR’s plastics recycling technology for its 50 kTA unit which aims to convert waste plastics into raw materials for developing new plastics. With this project, the company aims to establish a greener facility in South Korea.

With an aim to establish a global nylon 6,6 production facility at its South Carolina site in the USA, Invista has broken ground for a new nylon polymer facility at the site. The new plant is expected to increase the production volume of polymers at the site.

Anellotech’s Plas-Tcat catalytic pyrolysis technology has been used to produce the drum-quantity samples of recycled BTX made from mixed waste plastics. The samples have been developed at the firm’s Tcat-8 facility in Texas, USA.

Covestro has begun production of Naphthylen-Diisocyanate (NDI) for its Vulkollan raw materials at its new plant in Map Ta Phut, Thailand. The project aims at meeting the growing demand for high performance elastomers.

Qatar Energy and Chevron Phillips Chemical Company have recently undertaken a Final Investment Decision to develop a world-scale integrated polymers facility – the Golden Triangle Polymers Plant in the USA. The 8.5-billion-dollar project will include an ethylene cracker unit and two high-density polyethylene units.

Under a MOU signed between LG Chem and Yonsei University, both the parties will work together to develop next-generation technologies for battery materials. An industry-academia cooperation center will also be established for this purpose.

Under the terms of a joint venture agreement signed between Ineos and Sinopec, Ineos will acquire a 50 % share in Sinopec’s existing Tianjin Nangang Ethylene Project which is currently under development. The new petrochemicals complex will include a 1.2 mtpa cracker, and 12 other derivative plants, including a 300ktpa ABS plant and a 500ktpa HDPE plant.

Mitsui Chemicals and Microwave Chemical will be establishing a new demonstration facility at Mitsui Chemicals’ Nagoya Works in Japan. The unit will demonstrate the innovative microwave-based technology for carbon fiber production.

Brasil Biofuels has awarded Haldor Topsoe with a technology contract for its new biorefinery in Manaus, Brazil. Under the terms of the agreement, Topsoe will provide its Hydroflex and H2bridge technologies for the production of sustainable aviation fuel and second-generation biofuel at the biorefinery.
