BASF has inaugurated a new production facility for high-performance cathode active materials as well as a battery recycling plant for the production of black mass in Schwarzheide, Germany. With this project, the company aims to close the loop for the European battery value chain.

The consortium has decided to separate their joint diphenylmethane diisocyanate production in Caojing, China. With this move, the companies will independently operate two MDI plants at the Caojing site.

Under a letter of Intent signed between both the parties, BASF will supply Neopentyl Glycol from its Zhanjiang Verbund site in China to KHUA which has plans to develop a 100 kilotons per annum production plant for high-end powder coatings resins in Donghai Island.

BASF and Yara have plans to conduct a joint study in order to assess the development of a world-scale low-carbon blue ammonia production facility in the U.S. Gulf Coast region. If approved, the project is expected to have a total annual capacity of 1.2 to 1.4 million tons.

BASF recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new polyethylene plant at its Zhanjiang Verbund site in China. The facility is expected to have a capacity of 500,000 metric tons of polyethylene every year and is scheduled to start up in 2025.

Amidst a strong demand for alkoxylates in Europe, BASF has plans to increase its alkoxylation production capacity in excess of 150,000 metric tons per year in order to strengthen its presence in the region.

Petronas Chemicals Group has plans to acquire a 113 kilo-tonnes per annum Maleic Anhydride plant from BASF Petronas Chemicals. Located in Malaysia, the new unit is expected to expand the firm’s product portfolio.

In the background of rising global demand for bio-based and biodegradable surfactants, BASF has plans to expand its alkyl polyglucosides production capacity at two of its sites in Bangpakong, Thailand, and Cincinnati, Ohio. With this move, the company aims to strengthen its presence in Asia-Pacific and North America.
