Researchers from BASF, the Austrian Research Centre of Industrial Biotechnology and the University of Graz in Austria have jointly developed a fundamentally new computer-assisted model which can improve enzyme performance as well as enable new biocatalytic production processes to be scaled up quickly.

Located in Budenheim, Germany, the new facility will produce green hydrogen and fuel cell components. The unit will also produce low-iridium-loaded catalyst coated membranes, a key functional part for proton exchange membrane water electrolysis.

BASF has introduced its biomass balanced ecoflex, a polybutylene adipate terephthalate that is frequently used in the compounding of biopolymers. The new ecoflex F Blend C1200 BMB has a 60 % lower Product Carbon Footprint than the standard ecoflex grade.

Lallemand's subsidiaries, Danstar Ferment and Lallemand Specialties have acquired BASF’s bioenergy enzymes business which is based in San Diego, California, USA. With this move, BASF will continue to focus on its enzyme activities in the animal feed and detergents markets.

BASF has successfully inaugurated its second polymer dispersions production line at the Daya Bay site in Huizhou, China. The move is expected to meet the growing demand of high-quality dispersions in the country.

BASF uses certified biowaste raw materials to replace fossil resources at the beginning of the production process. Also, the firm makes use of electricity from renewable sources for the manufacturing of the ammonia and urea products, further reducing their production-related emissions.

Under the new role, Christine Grosse Lembeck will be responsible for further growing BASF’s comprehensive solutions along the battery recycling value chain for battery producers, battery cell manufacturers and OEMs.

BASF has plans to expand its advanced additives plant at its Nanjing site in China. The expansion will include a production line, for high-performance Controlled Free Radical Polymerization dispersants, with state-of-the-art production processes.
