Sika’s innovative concrete recycling technology – reco2ver is capable of recycling old concrete which can then be entirely reused while facilitating the sequestration of CO2. Switzerland’s Climate Cent Foundation has committed 11.28 million dollars to support this technology.

Sika has gone ahead with its plan to expand its adhesives and sealants production in India by opening a new manufacturing plant and technology center in Pune. The move has been undertaken in the background of the growing demand from the automotive, construction and renewable energy segments.

With an aim to increase its production capacity as well as to provide faster and more sustainable customer solutions, Sika has launched a new mortar production facility in China to meet the growing demands of the construction industry in the Asian nation.

According to a report by market research and consulting firm Future Market Insights, the global construction chemicals market is expected to increase at over 5 % CAGR in 2021. It further adds that the demand for construction chemicals will be dominant in the Asia Pacific region excluding Japan.

With an aim to locally produce epoxy resins and expand its production capacity in the region, Sika has commissioned a new manufacturing plant in Dubai. The move is expected to increase flexibility in production, shorten delivery times, optimise cost structures, and reduce inventories.

Ceresana’s recent report on the global market for adhesives has revealed that more than 14.7 million tonnes of adhesives were consumed around the globe in 2019. It further states that vinyl adhesive was the most important type of product last year with a demand volume of over 4.3 million tonnes.

The study has been carried out for the fourth time by Ceresana and it forecasts that around 58 % of all paints and coatings will be used in the construction industry by 2027. Also, the demand for it in the industrial product segment is also expected to grow around 1.2 % per year.
