Baker Hughes has launched a new oilfield services chemicals manufacturing facility in Singapore which will manufacture, store and distribute chemical solutions for upstream, midstream, downstream and adjacent industries. The automated unit is in line with the firm’s goals of reducing carbon and supports Singapore’s national sustainability movement ‘Green Plan 2030’.

The Indian company Calibre Chemicals, which is claimed to be one of the largest manufacturers of potassium persulphate; perchlorates and iodine derivatives in India, has plans to take over Evonik’s Rheinperchemie firm with an aim to expand its business to the European market.

Under an agreement signed between both the parties, BASF will purchase Arcus Greencycling Technologies’ pyrolysis oil which has been created from mixed plastic waste. The chemical firm intends to use the oil as a raw material in its production plants for manufacturing high-quality polyamides.

Lyondell Basell and Kirkbi have invested in APK to become minority shareholders of the firm. APK has developed a unique solvent-based recycling technology which separates different polymers of multi-layer packaging materials and produces recycled materials which can be used for new packaging materials.

BASF, Sabic and Linde have begun construction work on the world’s first demo plant for large-scale electrically heated steam cracker furnaces in Ludwigshafen, Germany. With this project, the consortium aims to reduce CO2 emissions in the chemical industry by at least 90 % as compared to other technologies of today.

The chemical company Yara along with Northern Lights, a joint venture firm of Shell, Equinor and Total Energies have entered into an agreement to transport CO2 captured from Yara Sluiskil, an ammonia and fertilizer plant in the Netherlands, and permanently store it under the seabed off the coast of Norway.

Xinji Energy Chemical has selected Eurotecnica’s 5th generation proprietary Euromel technology for the design and implementation of the world’s largest high pressure melamine plant which is expected to have a capacity of 120,000 tons annually.

Perstorp is working on an innovative project which will assist the company to make use of wastewater from a nearby municipal treatment plant for its production operations in Stenungsund, Sweden. The project is expected to save 1.1 billion liters of fresh water annually.
