Yara has inaugurated a new ammonia import terminal in Brunsbüttel, Germany. With this project, the company has the potential to import up to three million tonnes of low-emission ammonia to Europe annually.

Thyssenkrupp has bagged a feed contract for the carbon capture project Ifestos which is claimed to be one of the largest carbon capture projects in Europe. On completion, the project is expected to produce zero-carbon cement and concrete.

The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains has selected Braskem to negotiate terms of a 50 million-dollar award under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Hycamite TCD Technologies has recently inaugurated Europe’s largest methane-splitting plant in Kokkola, Finland. Once fully operational, the nominal capacity of Hycamite’s Customer Sample Facility is expected to reach 2,000 tonnes of low-carbon hydrogen and 6,000 tonnes of high-quality carbon annually.

Shell has decided to temporarily pause on-site construction at its biofuels facility at the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rotterdam in the Netherlands. With an expected capacity of 820,000 tonnes a year, the project has been put on hold to address project delivery and ensure future competitiveness given current market conditions.

BASF has recently inaugurated a new mega production plant for alkyl ethanolamines at its Verbund site in Antwerp, Belgium. With this project, the company is expected to increase its global annual production capacity for alkyl ethanolamines by nearly 30 percent to over 140,000 tons per year.

Mantel Capture has secured a funding of 30 million dollars for demonstrating its low cost and energy efficient carbon capture technology at an industrial site. The funding is being co-led by Shell Ventures and Eni Next.

The ICIS Innovation Award 2024 has been presented to Lanxess for its innovative iron oxides which are used in lithium iron phosphate batteries. The company bagged the award under the category of ‘Best Product Innovation from a Large Company’.

PPG has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its silicas products business to Poland-based firm Qemetica for 310 million dollars. The deal includes PPG’s precipitated silicas manufacturing facilities in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Delfzijl, The Netherlands.
