Clariant’s Megamax catalyst has been selected for China’s biomass gasification-to-green methanol project. The project is expected to use a combination of farm waste and wind power to produce up to 250,000 tons per annum of green methanol.

One of the winners of Clariant’s Climate Campaign is Hengli Petrochemical and the firm was offered a free load of Clariant’s Envicat N2O-S catalyst for nitrous oxide abatement. Envicat N2O-S is claimed to be a drop-in solution that is capable of removing up to 95% of N2O from the off-gas of nitric acid production plants.

North Huajin Refining and Petrochemical Company has selected Solvay’s hydrogen peroxide technology for its new Panjin facility in China which is expected to produce 300 kilotons of propylene oxide per year.

Exxonmobil and LG Chem have agreed to a multiyear offtake agreement for up to 100,000 metric tons of lithium carbonate. The lithium will be supplied from Exxonmobil’s planned project in the U.S. to LG Chem’s cathode plant in Tennessee, which is expected to be the largest of its kind in the U.S.

Exxonmobil has plans to expand its advanced recycling operations at its sites in Baytown and Beaumont, Texas by investing a hefty amount of 200+ million dollars. The investment is expected to add 350 million pounds per year of advanced recycling capacity at both the sites, bringing Exxonmobil’s total capacity to 500 million pounds annually.

Borealis has plans to invest 4.5-million-euros in the cracker furnaces of its olefins unit in Porvoo, Finland. With the help of the investment, three of the ten cracker furnaces in the unit will be modified to enable a total annual production of 120 kilotons of base chemicals based on renewable and recycled feedstocks.
