Incubated at the World Economic Forum, the Global Impact Coalition is a CEO-led coalition committed to advancing a circular, net-zero future for the chemical industry. The coalition has recently completed its first anniversary by delivering revolutionary projects for the sector.

Lummus and Resynergi have achieved a significant milestone with the commercialization of Resynergi’s Continuous Microwave Assisted Pyrolysis (CMAP) Modules. The technology has the ability to convert plastic waste into circular pyrolysis products significantly faster and more efficiently than traditional pyrolysis methods.

BASF has appointed Dr. Thomas Kloster to take responsibility for the Petrochemicals division based in Ludwigshafen from January 1, 2025. Kloster is currently the President of the Performance Chemicals division at BASF.

Kemira has plans to shut down its manufacturing site in Vancouver, Canada as the firm intends to consolidate its Pulp & Paper chemical production in North America. Production at the site will end during the first half of 2025 following which the production will shift to the company’s Washington site, where Kemira already produces process and functional chemicals.

Claimed to be the world’s first biorefinery for the production of hardwood-based biochemicals, UPM Biochemicals has selected Bilfinger as its maintenance partner for the landmark project.
