Johnson Matthey has plans to expand its Perstorp manufacturing facility in Sweden by 50 % due to the growing demand of formaldehyde across the globe. The expanded project will be operational by the end of March 2024.

BASF, Sabic and Linde have begun construction work on the world’s first demo plant for large-scale electrically heated steam cracker furnaces in Ludwigshafen, Germany. With this project, the consortium aims to reduce CO2 emissions in the chemical industry by at least 90 % as compared to other technologies of today.

The chemical company Yara along with Northern Lights, a joint venture firm of Shell, Equinor and Total Energies have entered into an agreement to transport CO2 captured from Yara Sluiskil, an ammonia and fertilizer plant in the Netherlands, and permanently store it under the seabed off the coast of Norway.

Synova and Technip Energies’ combined technology will be used for the plant which will be integrated with Sabic’s steam cracker.
