United Chemical Company Shchekinoazot Shchekinoazot launched a methanol and ammonia co-production plant licensed by Haldor Topsoe in the Tula region of Russia. The new plant can produce 450,000 tons of methanol and 135,000 tons of ammonia per year and is based on Topsoe’s Imap technology.

CB&I announced that it has been awarded a contract using their alkylation technology in Indonesia as well as a technology and development contract for a residue upgrading complex in Sweden.

The project aims at maximising biocrude yields in a commercially viable manner as well as improving the efficiency of biocrude to renewable diesel blendstock. It also plans to make the next-generation of renewable biofuels competitive.

Under the agreement, Haldor Topsoe will provide license and engineering services for the new methanol unit. The plant is expected to have a capacity of 500,000 tonnes annually.

The UCC Shchekinoazot plant is based on Haldor Topsoe’s integrated methanol and ammonia production methanol+ process. The plant comprises a production capacity of 450,000 tonnes of methanol and 135,000 tonnes of ammonia per year.

High voltage Lithium-Nickel-Manganese Oxide (LNMO) cathode material provide a longer range and more powerful electric devices with next-generation batteries. Haldor Topsoe has invested in developing a world-class LNMO cathode material, and believes that LNMO has great potential as a cathode material in novel lithium ion batteries.

Both the companies have got together and set up a demo unit for developing renewable MEG. The demonstration plant is expected to produce more than 100 tonnes of glycolaldehyde per year.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), jointly with Apex Energy of Malaysia, and PT Rekayasa Industri in Indonesia, has received an order from Petronas Chemical Fertilizer Sabah for a project to construct a large-scale ammonia/urea fertilizer plant.

Haldor Topsøe plans to profit from the current demand for catalysts: The company recently opened a large extension of its catalyst plant plant in Frederikssund, Denmark. Especially refineries and petrochemical plants, but also ammonia facilities drive the global demand for catalysts, the firm believes.

A Danish consortium led by Brass Fertilizer and Haldor Topsøe has agreed to design and construct a US $ 3.5 billion urea, methanol and gas processing complex on Brass Island, Bayelsa, Nigeria. The proposed project is expected to be the single largest private sector investment in the Niger Delta.
