Under a license agreement signed between BASF and Andritz, BASF’s OASE technology has been selected for a carbon capture project that is expected to be developed in the city of Aarhus, Denmark.

BASF starts up its first commercial loopamid plant for recycled polyamide 6 at the Caojing site in Shanghai, China. loopamid is capable of transforming textile waste into a valuable resource, helps save raw materials and closes the textile loop. The unit will have an annual capacity of 500 metric tons.

Claimed to be one of the world’s largest industrial heat pumps for CO2-free steam generation, BASF’s industrial heat pump at the Ludwigshafen site in Germany is expected to produce up to 500,000 tons of CO2-free steam per year. With a thermal output of around 50 MWs, the mega heat pump has the potential to reduce CO2 emissions at the site by up to 100,000 tons per year.

Under a value chain partnership between Akzonobel, Arkema and BASF, Akzonobel’s architectural powder coatings offer a 40 % lower carbon footprint. The three partners have also published an industry case study to offer further insights into the transition to lower carbon footprint powder coatings.

The EU-India free trade agreement is expected to double EU goods exports to India by 2032. With a specific focus on the chemicals and pharmaceuticals industries, the trade deal highlights that India will eliminate current tariffs of up to 22 % on EU chemicals and 11 % on EU pharmaceuticals while the EU will also cut tariffs to zero on Indian chemical exports as well as offer Indian pharmaceutical and medical devices companies’ preferential access to the EU market.
