BASF has plans to develop a global Digital Hub in Hyderabad, India with an aim to strengthen its existing global Digital Hub network in Europe and Asia Pacific.

BASF has started up a steam cracker at its Verbund site in China which is claimed to be the first cracker in the world using 100 % renewable energy to drive its main compressors.

BASF has introduced a modern amine catalyst – Lupragen N 208 to its portfolio of Lupragen amine catalysts for the production of polyurethane foams. The low-VOC polyurethane catalyst will be produced at the firm’s Ludwigshafen Verbund site in Germany.

Under a joint development agreement signed between BASF and Exxonmobil, both the companies will work together to co-develop the methane pyrolysis technology which will also include the development of a demonstration plant.

With this investment, BASF aims to produce the most advanced dispersants by making use of the Controlled Free Radical Polymerization technology. High-performance dispersants are essential in coatings, inks and composites, improving pigment dispersion, color performance and system stability.

BASF has recently inaugurated a new plant at the Bangpakong site in Thailand. The project marks the expansion of its Alkyl Polyglucosides footprint in Asia. With this move, the company aims to strengthen its position in the region.

Under an agreement signed between Catexel and BASF, Catexel will acquire BASF’s optical brightening agent business. The transaction comprises the international business including the production of optical brightening agents at the Monthey site in Switzerland and approximately 80 employees.

With an aim to support the growth and expansion of semiconductor companies in Europe, BASF has plans to establish a new electronic grade ammonium hydroxide plant in Ludwigshafen, Germany which will help to ensure a strong local supply chain for the production of advanced chips.

The global investment firm Carlyle has signed a binding transaction agreement with BASF to secure a majority stake in its coating business. The transaction is expected to close in Q2 2026.

BASF has achieved the successful start-up of the butyl acrylate plant and the mechanical completion of the steam cracker and all integrated petrochemical plants at its Zhanjiang Verbund site in China.
