With an aim to strengthen its global pharmaceutical business, Asahi Kasei has acquired Aicuris for approximately 780 million euros. The acquisition boosts Asahi Kasei’s strategy to build a focused and sustainable pharmaceutical platform to serve immunocompromised and medically complex patient populations.

Asahi Kasei has plans to supply its Aqualyzer-C3 containerized 1 MW-class alkaline-water electrolyzer to Central Finland Mobility Foundation’s hydrogen project in Finland. The full operation is expected to commence in the first half of 2026.

Developed by CAC Engineering, Bondalti Chemicals’ facility made use of Asahi Kasei’s chlor-alkali electrolysis technology. The new unit will also be utilized for further reducing power consumption and optimizing the use of materials in the chlor-alkali industry.

Asahi Kasei’s demo trial achieved biomethane production with yield of up to 99.5 % or more and purity of 97 % or more by making use of biogas from organic waste. The company plans to begin commercialization of the technology in 2027.
