Total’s Grandpuits refinery in France will be converted into a zero-crude platform for the production of biofuels and bioplastic. The platform will comprise of three new industrial units: a bio-refinery, a bioplastics plant and a plastics recycling unit.

Sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the new pilot plant will make use of carbon dioxide and hydrogen to produce sustainable chemicals. BMBF is investing 7 million dollars for various stages of the project.

Under the terms of the agreement, Sealed Air and Plastic Energy will aim to develop new technology advancements to enhance the circularity of plastics. With this deal, Sealed Air intends to eliminate plastic waste and assist its customers to include recycled plastics into their packaging.

The five modular polymer injection plants have been successfully designed, supplied, installed and commissioned at a major oilfield in Argentina. The plants are expected to minimise mechanical degradation of polymers and will also help increase oil recovery rates.

Under the terms of the contract, Linde will start up a new air separation unit along with three nitrogen generators to supply industrial gases to the Taiwanese electronics customer. On completion, the plants are expected to have a total combined gas capacity of over 173,000 Nm3/hr.

Air Products’ AP-X Natural Gas Liquefaction Process technology and equipment will be used for the first phase of Qatar Petroleum’s North Field East project in Qatar. The project will comprise of four new LNG process units and each of them will possess a production capacity of 7.8 million tonnes per year.

The previously announced Montney acquisition by Conoco Phillips has now been completed by the company. With this, the firm now has 295,000 net acres in the Montney with 100 per cent working interest.
