Germany: Change in Management New Head of Process Technology & Engineering Business at Evonik

Dr. Axel Kobus took over as head of the Process Technology & Engineering Business at Evonik on July 1, 2019. He succeeds Dr. Wilhelm Otten, who until he leaves the company on December 31, 2019, will be responsible for an internal project in addition to his committee work.

Essen/Germany — Evonik appointed Dr. Axel Kobus as new Head of its Process Technology & Engineering Business. He contributes 20 years of cross-industry experience in areas such as development, scale-up, implementation and commercialization of technology and marketing of technical products. After studying mechanical engineering and process engineering at the Ruhr University Bochum, followed by a doctorate in chemical engineering — in cooperation with the TU Dortmund — Kobus began his professional career in 1999 as a process engineer and pilot plant manager in process engineering at the former Degussa Hüls in Marl.

Following various other management positions in Germany and abroad, including as Head of Global Supply Chain Management, Strategic Purchasing and Engineering in the Initiators business in Ohio, USA, Kobus assumed the function of Growth Line Head Fibres and Membranes in 2010 with responsibility for legal entities in Austria and Great Britain. Since 2016, Dr. Axel Kobus has been Vice President and General Manager for the Fibres, Membranes & Specialties product line at the Marl site and also responsible for the membranes innovation and growth area at Evonik throughout the Group.
