The MOL Group has begun biofuel production at its Danube Refinery in Hungary. The move is in line with the company’s updated strategy of ‘Shape Tomorrow’ and the firm will make use of bio feedstock to create sustainable diesel.
Together, the MOL Group and Meraxis intend to develop and produce high-quality recycle-based compounds. Under this deal, Meraxis will supply the MOL Group with high-quality, post-consumer recycled materials which will be combined with the firm’s virgin polyolefin resins.
INA Supervisory Board granted its prior agreement for the Rijeka Refinery Residue Upgrade project and the Management Board unanimously approved the investment. The decision was supported both by the Croatian Government and by MOL, the two major shareholders of INA.

Thyssenkrupp hat einen Großauftrag von der Mol Gruppe zum Bau eines neuen integrierten Chemiekomplexes in Ungarn erhalten. Die Verträge über das Engineering, die Beschaffung und den Bau (EPC) des Anlagenkomplexes wurde am 12. September 2018 in Budapest unterzeichnet.
Mol Group entered into a strategic partnership with Inovacat, a Dutch technology innovator in the refining and petrochemical industries. The cooperation is expected to further upscale and commercialize the partners Gasolfin technology that converts naphtha into propylene, butylene and BTX (benzene, toluene, and xylene).
Mol Group has announced the completion of their new synthetic rubber plant built through a joint venture with JSR Corporation. Feedstock material to the new plant located in Tiszaújváros, Hungary, will be secured from the company’s butadiene extraction unit.
Following the announcement made in July about entering into contracts with Evonik and Thyssenkrupp to produce propylene oxide, Mol Group has now reached an additional agreement with Thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions (Thailand) that will cover technological steps to convert propylene-oxide into polyether polyols and propylene glycols.
For its strategic investment into the propylene oxide value chain, Mol Group is partnering with Evonik and Thyssenkrupp. The company announced that this project would be their largest investment project in 2017-21.
