Wichita/USA — The investment will expand capacity of Nylon 6,6 fiber used in a diverse range of applications, the company announced.

According to the manufacturer, this investment will significantly increase domestic US capacity of high-tenacity, specialty fibers used in Cordura fabrics. These durable fabrics are used in military applications such as bags, backpacks and ballistic vest carriers as well as a wide variety of commercial end-uses from hiking boots to hunting gear, workwear to motorcycle, and many other outdoor and lifestyle apparel and equipment products.

According to Jeff Brown, Executive Vice President, Investa Performance Materials division, “This investment is utilizing a combination of patented and proprietary technology with flexibility such as solution dyeing which enables increased innovation opportunities around fiber properties and performance and creates a strong platform for our future growth."

The new assets will also be capable of manufacturing bulked continuous filament and high-quality fibers for airbags and industrial sewing threads. "As Investa’s largest integrated nylon polymer and fiber producing facility, this site offers an ideal footprint for reinvesting in high performance solutions for the markets we serve,” says Brown.
