As many as eleven companies are supporting the large-scale deployment of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology in Houston in order to decarbonize industrial units in the region. Together they are planning to potentially capture and safely store up to 50 million metric tons of CO2 per year by 2030 and about 100 million metric tons by 2040.
In line with the Scottish Government’s ambition of achieving net zero emissions by 2045 in the country, Ineos Grangemouth will further invest 1.37-billion-dollars in addition to the over 686 million dollars already invested at its Grangemouth site in Scotland to deliver emissions savings of more than 60 % across the site by 2030 and thus, achieve net zero emissions by 2045.
Ineos has recently revealed that it has completed the sale of its Sulphur Chemicals business to International Chemical Investors Group. With this move, the business will become part of Weylchem’s advanced intermediates and reagents portfolio.
The hydrogen pilot project is being carried out in a commercial scale cogeneration plant for the first time in Belgium. The move is expected to gradually replace natural gas by hydrogen for generating electricity and heat.
Ineos Olefins and Polymers USA has acquired Sasol’s 50 % stake to become 100 % owner of the Gemini HDPE facility in Texas, USA. The move is expected to increase the Ineos Group’s global HDPE market share.
The barges will be built according to the new ADN 2019 standard and aims at becoming the largest gas barges operating on the River Rhine. It will also enable efficient delivery of butane gas from the ARA region to Ineos’ facility in Germany.
To fight the global pandemic of Covid 19 in the USA, Ineos has built two new hand sanitiser facilities in Arkansas and Pennsylvania. Both the plants are expected to produce 1 million bottles of sanitiser each per month in order to meet the shortage requirements.
