Saudi Arabia: Unconventional Gas Stimulation Halliburton Awarded Contract by Saudi Aramco for Unconventional Resources Project
Halliburton signed an Unconventional Gas Stimulation Services contract with Saudi Aramco. The company will utilize an integrated approach and provide project management, hydraulic fracturing, coiled tubing, wireline and perforating, completion tools and testing services.

Houston/USA — Saudi Aramco seeks to exploit unconventional gas to serve domestic needs, offset local crude burning, provide feedstock for chemical industry development, and spur regional economic development in line with Vision 2030, the Kingdom’s national transformation program. The new agreement will provide lump sum turnkey stimulation services which include major hydraulic fracturing and well intervention operations.
Senior Executives from Saudi Aramco and Halliburton participated in a signing ceremony for the project and work will begin in June 2018. According to Amin H. Nasser, president and chief executive officer of Saudi Aramco, his company has made great strides in developing their unconventional resources program, with emphasis on unconventional gas as an important clean energy source for the Kingdom’s future. With the contract formalized with Halliburton, the oil company entered the important next phase of achieving their gas expansion objectives, he added.
Saudi Aramco’s Unconventional Resources program spans three areas of Saudi Arabia: North Arabia, South Ghawar and Jafurah/Rub’ Al-Khali.
