USA: Monoethylene Glycol Manufacturing Fluor to Construct ME Global Facility in Freeport
ME Global, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Equate Petrochemical Company, awarded Fluor a contract for mechanical construction of its new monoethylene glycol (MEG) manufacturing facility in Freeport, Texas.
Irving/USA — The contract with an undisclosed value is the engineering company's fifth major construction project in Freeport over the past six years. This will be ME Global’s first manufacturing unit in the United States.
Fluor’s mechanical construction scope includes the installation of equipment, steel and piping for the MEG process unit. About 1,000 craft professionals are expected at peak construction for the contractor’s scope.
MEG is a key building block for polyester fibers, plastic bottles and other everyday items. Operations are expected to begin in 2019.
