The company Glatt Ingenieurtechnik will showcase at the Powtech 2013 in Nuremberg the laboratory fluid bed unit ProCell LabSystem Pro. The modular lab system is designed explosion pressure proof and is able to process various material systems such as powders entailing the risk of dust explosion as well as hybrid mixtures.

Glatt's flexible laboratory fluid bed unit ProCell LabSystem will be introduced in a fully explosion pressure proof Pro version at Powtech 2013 in Nuremberg. Integrated in a mobile main unit, this modular lab all-rounder thus allows the use of all process options for batch and continuous fluid bed, spouted bed or rotor processes for a great variety of material systems such as powders entailing the risk of dust explosion up to hybrid mixtures.

Explosion pressure proof version

This compact and modular lab system allows you to process all dusts of the classes St-1 and St-2 as well as organic solvents. Users can benefit from considerable savings in safety reviews prior to trials or production while being prepared for the processing of future product generations. Using the proven concept of "avoiding ignition sources" an explosion is very unlikely. If an explosion occurs nevertheless, it will be enclosed within the explosion pressure proof ProCell LabSystem Pro and there will be no dangers for personnel and environment. A recognized independent testing institute has tested and certified this machine's explosion protection concept.

Using the versatile ProCell LabSystem — both in Pro and also in Standard design — you can produce granulates and pellets from powder and/or liquids by spray granulation or agglomeration as well as coat particles by coating or powder layering. Modular process inserts allow Top Spray, Bottom Spray and Wurster coating for fluid bed, spouted bed or rotor processes. This system can be disassembled and adapted in its performance spectrum by options as desired. Inlet air can have a temperature up to 200 °C, or optionally up to 300 °C, and the allowed max. product temperature is only reached at 150 °C.

Batch and continuous processes

Batch and continuous processes are possible. What makes this machinery unique is its wide range of capacities, from feasibility studies up to the production of sample quantities. Thus, this unparalleled system concept allows a very wide application range based on the raw material use spanning from product development with 500 g to 5 kg in batch processes or 200 g/h to 3 kg/h in continuous mode up small-scale production with 5 kg to 35 kg in batch processes or 3 kg/h to 20 kg/h in continuous processes.

On top of this, additional versions are available for both the explosion pressure proof Pro design and also for the standard design such as a WIP option, a spray system for molten material as well as a loop version with inertization and solvent recovery.
