At the 2024 European Responsible Care Awards, Cefic has gone on to recognize 23 initiatives for advancing Antwerp declaration ambitions. The awarded initiatives reflect the chemical industry’s important role in strengthening Europe’s industrial base while addressing key priorities.

Brussels/Belgium – Cefic, the European Chemical Industry Council, proudly recognizes 23 companies and national associations for their exceptional contributions to advancing the ambitions of the Antwerp Declaration through the 2024 European Responsible Care Awards. The awarded initiatives reflect the chemical industry’s important role in strengthening Europe’s industrial base while addressing key priorities like supporting high-quality jobs, boosting EU competitiveness, improving process safety and cybersecurity, and driving the green and digital transition. These efforts underscore the industry's commitment to building a competitive, resilient, and sustainable Europe.

The 23 initiatives are highlighted in an online gallery that showcases the most impressive Responsible Care Awards projects, including 14 winners and 9 commendations. Initiatives include training skilled workers and fostering inclusive work environments, upcycling waste to support a circular economy, using innovative methods to assess sustainability, and transitioning to digital systems to enhance process safety and cybersecurity, among other exciting projects.

Responsible Care is a cornerstone of the chemical sector’s commitment to leading sustainable practices across its operations. This voluntary programme, implemented by 63 chemical associations across 70 economies, including 30 countries in Europe, continues to set a global standard for excellence.
