GROAB-Project of the Month: Ethylene Cracker Technip to Build Ethylene Cracker for SP Olefins in China
SP Olefins, a subsidiary of SP Chemicals, one of the largest ion-membrane chlor-alkali and aniline producers in China, is constructing the first gas cracking ethylene plant in China. Technip entered into a contract to support the construction of the Greenfield grassroots gas cracker with a capacity of 650,000 t/a in Taixing, Jiangsu Province.

Würzburg/Germany – Under the deal, Technip will provide its proprietary technology, process design package, technical services and proprietary equipment for. The company will supply its SC furnaces, Heat-Integrated Rectifier System, Ripple Trays and Wet Air Oxidation process.
Technip plans to execute the process out of its Houston office. Furthermore the plant, which is a part of SP Olefins' 1100KTA light hydrocarbon utilization project, will use low-cost ethane and propane from North America.
