La Porte/USA — The company will commit a capital investment of approximately $ 675 million to the design and construction of the new facility, which will be named Delta. The new plant will have a production capacity of 450 kilotons (kt) per year, the equivalent to approx.1 billion pounds. Delta will provide additional production capacity for homopolymers, random copolymers, impact copolymers, and reactor TPOs, building upon Braskem’s current polypropylene production plant in La Porte.

During the construction phase, the company expects to employ about 1,000 development and construction workers, and upon final completion, additional 50 full-time jobs.

Construction is expected to begin mid-summer, with the final phase of main construction targeted for the first quarter of 2020. The company emphasises that the plant design is commitment to sustainability and eco-indicators such as emission, water and energy efficiency, as well as recycling and waste reduction.
