Bolivia: Plant Engineering Bolivia Starts-Up Fertilizer Plant

The Bolivian Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) fertilizer plant project built by Samsung Engineering celebrated the 'Plant Completion Ceremony' on September 14, 2017.

La Paz/Bolivia — The $ 843 million contract to construct a 1,200 tons per day ammonia and urea plant was has been awarded to the South Korean company in 2012. The project consists of a 650,000 tons per year urea production, based on Toyo technology, and an additional ammonia unit with a 400,000 tons per year capacity, using KBR technology.

Altogether the Government of President Evo Morales invested $ 952 million in the project, which aims at alleviating the regions dependency on fertilizer imports. On its website, YPFP announced that they expect 80 to 90 % of the plants production to be exported to neighbouring countries.
